Fixing titles from live DJs and relays

A live DJ sends along what's playing, and it often goes slightly wrong: the artist in the title field, a dash too many, everything in capitals. On this screen you fix that once, and from then on it's right every time.

You'll find it under Uitzending → Titels.

The difference first, because that's where it goes wrong

There are two kinds of titles on your station, and only one kind can be fixed here.

Tracks from your library take their name from the file itself: the tags. If something is wrong there, change it in the library. Those tracks don't appear here.

Titles from live DJs and relays come from outside. The DJ's encoder, or the stream you take over, sends a piece of text along, and that text is what your listeners see. That's what you fix here.

A classic: in comes an empty artist and the title "Gertjan Wels – Deze ene nacht". You correct it to artist Gertjan Wels and title Deze ene nacht, and from then on it's right in the player, the widgets and your play history.

On air now

At the top you set what listeners see right now. Fill in artist and title and choose Instellen (set).

Without the tick box this always works, even while the AutoDJ is playing, and it only lasts until the next track. Handy when a DJ forgot to update their title.

Tick Onthoud voor de volgende keer (remember for next time) and it becomes a fixed correction for the message coming in now. That only works when a live DJ or relay is on air at that moment and sends its own title; otherwise there's nothing to remember. The tick box is then greyed out, with the reason underneath.

After remembering, the screen says Ingesteld en onthouden (set and remembered) and how many broadcasts were changed.

Played live

Here are the titles from live DJs and relays in the last hundred broadcasts. Each line has Corrigeren. Fill in the right artist and title, and the screen tells you how many broadcasts were changed. This also works when nobody is live right now.

A correction applies to this message, now and in earlier broadcasts, and to every next time the same message comes in.

Fixed corrections

At the bottom are all the corrections in force, with what originally came in. Remove one and the message comes in the next time exactly as the DJ sends it. Earlier broadcasts keep their corrected name: removing undoes nothing.

Before you report a fault

"My correction doesn't work." A correction is tied to the message exactly as it comes in, letter for letter. If the DJ sends something different next time (an extra space, a different dash), that's a different message. Correct that one too.

"I can't find a track." Then it comes from your library or was set by hand. Those aren't shown here on purpose; change the tags in the library.

"On air now has already gone." Without the tick box it lasts until the next track. That's by design.

"I can't tick Onthoud." There's no live DJ or relay on air right now. Set the title without remembering, or correct it later under Live gedraaid (played live).

Is it in my plan?

Yes. Fixing titles is included in every plan.
