What exactly is a managed VPS?
With a managed VPS we take over the management of your server: operating system updates, security patches, monitoring, the firewall and daily backups. You get a powerful server without the maintenance.
What is the difference between managed and unmanaged VPS?
With an unmanaged VPS you do everything yourself: installing updates, setting up security, monitoring and backups. With a managed VPS we do it. You pay a management fee on top of the same hardware.
What does the management include?
Operating system updates, security patches, firewall and hardening, proactive monitoring and daily backups stored elsewhere. The response time differs per package: 24 working hours on M, 2 working hours on L and 1 hour, including nights and weekends, on XL.
Do I still have access to my server?
Yes. You keep full root access. We manage the operating system and security; your applications and data remain yours.
How do the backups work?
Every day we automatically back up your entire server and store it in a different location from the server itself. We restore it for you through support.
What uptime can I expect?
The uptime target is 99.95% on M and L and 99.99% on XL. With L and XL you get a monthly report with the measured uptime.
