What happens next

Is the AutoDJ on air?

The listener picks from your own music library and the platform schedules the track itself — never beside the same artist, never two requests within fifteen minutes, and never through the news or an ad break.

Is a DJ live at the desk?

Then there is no track list. The request stays free text and arrives as a note for the presenter, together with the message — they decide what to do with it.

The minutes are the fixed points. Music shifts in between, so the hour still works when a track runs long.

Encoders and website widgets have been reading `/7.html` on the stream port for twenty years — that one line of numbers from Shoutcast. We serve it there too. Move over from Shoutcast and your counter in RadioBOSS or SAM Broadcaster keeps working, and the block on your site stays filled. With a plain Icecast host you lose that address, and it breaks silently: the stream plays on and the counter stays empty.

No separate news software

The panel fetches your bulletins itself — from an RSS feed, an FTP or SFTP server, or you drop them in — and airs them at the top of the hour. A bulletin that is too old gets skipped rather than aired as yesterday’s news. No grabber on a PC that has to stay on.

    Your presenters log in to a studio of their own, not to your account. From there they go on air from the browser, in their own time slot. Invoices, payment details and your other services are out of their reach: they live in a different system.

      Your playout order is fixed, so your site and app can show which song plays next. On or off per station.

    What you want to know before you start

    How do I start my own radio station?
    Pick a plan; after you order, your station is created automatically. Add music to your library and AutoDJ starts playing straight away. Go live from your browser or with your own encoder. No need to rent or install a server: the streaming server runs with us.
    How do I manage my station?
    Through our own panel in your browser. That is where you upload music, build playlists, manage your presenters and see your listener figures. You do not need any extra software for it.
    Will my encoder work with this?
    Almost certainly. You connect over Shoutcast or Icecast, so SAM Broadcaster, RadioDJ, Mixxx, BUTT and most other packages work without changes. Your listeners receive the stream over Icecast or HLS, depending on what their player handles.
    Is this Shoutcast or Icecast hosting?
    Both, for your encoder: you connect over Shoutcast or Icecast, the way you are used to. Your listeners get Icecast or HLS, depending on what their player supports. So you do not need to rent a separate Shoutcast or Icecast server.
    Can I broadcast without an encoder?
    Yes. You go on air straight from your browser — a laptop and a microphone is enough. Keep in mind that the broadcast runs about twelve seconds behind: if you listen back to yourself over the stream, you hear yourself with that delay.
    What is AutoDJ and how does it work?
    AutoDJ plays your music whenever you are not live. You upload your files, build playlists and set a rotation. As soon as you or a presenter goes on air, AutoDJ steps aside by itself and picks up again afterwards.
    What if I get more listeners than my package allows?
    You can move to a larger package at any time, or add listeners on their own without switching. At your limit your stream keeps running, but new listeners cannot join for a while. We let you know when you are getting close.
    Do you handle music licensing?
    The licence itself is an agreement between you and your rights organisation, so you arrange that yourself. What we provide is the play report you need to submit: a monthly CSV with artist, title, ISRC and how often each track played. It is included in every plan.
    Can I put the player on my WordPress site?
    Yes. There is a WordPress plugin with the widgets in it, so you do not have to paste any code. On any other site you paste a single line of code.
    Can I cancel part-way through?
    You can cancel with effect from the end of the current term. Your station stays on air until then.
    How do I make my radio station sound more professional?
    With radio sound processing, the audio processor in Stage. Bass, mids and highs are controlled separately and the peaks stay under the ceiling, so your station sounds full and even. You choose one of four sound profiles, can set the target level to -11 or -12 LUFS, as loud as the big stations, and can have your live broadcasts processed too. Every plan includes the lighter built-in processing at no extra cost.
    Can I upload music without an FTP client?
    Yes, with the network drive. Through WebDAV your music library appears as a folder on your own computer: dragging is uploading. You see the password once, when you switch it on. The network drive is included in Beat and Stage.
