Emptying your library and starting over

Published on November 8, 20263 min read

Table of Contents

  • Two choices
  • What stays?
  • What the screen doesn't tell you
  • The trash: 7 days to restore
  • Confirming

If you want to start over with a completely new music list, you don't have to delete track by track. At the bottom of Programma → Muziek is the block Bibliotheek leegmaken (empty library), with the button Bibliotheek leegmaken…: every track gone in one go, with a summary first of what will happen. Toch niet (never mind) collapses it again.

Two choices

  • Music only. Your jingles, ads, voice tracks and opening tune stay.
  • Everything. Your jingles, ads and voice tracks go as well. Only your opening tune stays.

Before you confirm you see, per choice, how many tracks and how many GB go, and which playlists end up empty.

What stays?

Your playlists, hour layouts, weekly schedule, the history of what was played and your royalty report all stay. The playlists are empty or shorter afterwards. An hour layout that takes music from a folder finds nothing until there is music in that folder again.

What the screen doesn't tell you

Your station stays on air. It keeps playing the tracks that were already lined up, over and over, until there is new music in a playlist. Within a minute of that, the new music takes over. If the old music must be off the air at once, stop your station first, empty the library, upload your new music and start the station again.

Upload only once emptying is done. What you upload while it runs stays, but if you wait until the progress bar is finished you know exactly what is in there.

A stopped station only starts again once there is music in a playlist.

If you use your own server (your own storage through a link), the files that are on it now do not come back by themselves. New files you put there do.

The trash: 7 days to restore

The tracks first go into a trash for 7 days. It does not count towards your storage, so you can upload new music straight away. Within those 7 days Terugzetten (restore) puts everything back, with the same folders and in the same place in your playlists. A voice track does not get its slot in the broadcast back. What you uploaded since stays.

The trash holds one emptied library. If you empty the library again, whatever was still in the trash is deleted for good.

Confirming

You confirm by typing the name of your station and clicking Muziek leegmaken (empty music) or Alles leegmaken (empty everything); upper or lower case doesn't matter. In the app it then also asks for Face ID or your passcode. That way a wrong tap can never empty your library.
