A radio guide is a list in which listeners look for stations: apps, the car radio, smart speakers and network players. If you're not in it, nobody who searches there finds you. On the Radiogidsen page (under Je publiek) you see whether your station is ready to be submitted, you submit it to Radio Browser, and you keep track of which other guides you've already been through.
1. Klaar om aan te melden? (Ready to submit?)
At the top is the station's check: what guides look at before they list you. It covers, among other things, the address of your stream (public and over https), the format of the stream, your logo, your profile, your broadcast hours and any country blocking.
Each point has a label: In orde (fine), Let op (watch out) or Nog niet goed (not right yet). For everything that isn't fine it says where to fix it: at Eigen domein, Instellingen, the Logo, Je station, the Zendtijden or Wie mag luisteren (country blocking).
Country, languages and keywords you fill in under Instellingen → Je station. Guides all ask for them, and without a country and languages most won't list your station. You write languages as a language code with a comma between them, like nl, en.
2. Radio Browser
Radio Browser is an open guide that many apps and smart speakers take their list from. Here you can have your station submitted from the dashboard.
Read this before you submit, because you can't undo it. Your name, stream address, website, logo, country, languages and keywords become public when you submit. Radio Browser has no editing or removing: a listing stays, even if you unsubscribe here. That's why you first have to tick a box giving your consent, knowing a listing can't be removed afterwards. Without that tick, or while the check above says "Nog niet goed", the Aanmelden (submit) button can't be used.
Is your station already there?
Before submitting, the platform checks whether Radio Browser already has listings that look like your station: the same stream, the same name or the same website. If so, you see them in a list with what matches for each and whether it plays at the last check. You then have two choices:
- Dit is mijn station (this is my station) — you link the existing listing to your station, instead of making a second one. If one of the listings is yours, choose this.
- Toch als nieuw station aanmelden (submit as a new station anyway) — the screen then asks for confirmation once more, because a new listing can't be removed afterwards.
Once you're in
You then see the status (Staat erin or Aangemeld) and the result of Radio Browser's last check. Radio Browser plays your stream itself to see whether it works:
- If the last check failed, it says Radio Browser couldn't play your stream. If that stays so, they remove your listing.
- Niet meer te vinden (no longer found) means Radio Browser no longer knows your listing, usually because your stream didn't play for a long time. Unsubscribe and then submit again.
- Je streamadres is veranderd (your stream address has changed) means Radio Browser still has the old address. You can submit again with the new address, but the old listing stays: we can't remove it.
Unsubscribing
Afmelden only means we forget that your station is on Radio Browser. The listing itself stays there until Radio Browser removes it. We can't remove it.
If submitting to Radio Browser is still off on our platform, the page says so. You can still link an existing listing then.
3. The other guides
TuneIn, Airable, radio.net, myTuner, Streema, Radio Garden and OnlineRadioBox you submit yourself on their own site; those don't go from our dashboard. For each guide the page has a card with:
- Zo meld je aan (how to submit) — the steps, and a button to that guide's submission page.
- Loop dit na (check this) — the requirements the guide sets.
- Vraagt om (asks for) — which details it wants from you, for example name, stream address, website, description, country, languages, keywords and logo.
- Stand (status) — here you keep track of how far you are yourself: Niet aangemeld, Aangemeld or Staat erin. Optionally add the address of your listing. Save with Opslaan.
Note: that status is a memory aid for yourself. What you fill in there is there because you set it so.
What you can't read from the screen
Submitting changes nothing about your station. It only puts your details in a list. Your listeners get the same stream as always.
If you later change your name, logo or stream address, that doesn't change at the guides by itself. For the guides you submit yourself you change it there; for Radio Browser that isn't possible (see above). So decide on your name and logo beforehand rather than afterwards.
